Volume 17 Launch Party!

As you read this post, the printers are putting their final touches on Volume 17 of Glass Mountain. After a semester of hard work, we are finally ready to celebrate with a huge launch party on December 6th at Café Brasil, located on Dunlavy Street. Bring your family and friends, because we’re letting our hair down and it’s going to be a great time!

Our featured readers have all been published in this volume of the magazine: Merideth Melville, for nonfiction; Brooke Lightfoot and Fernando Izaguirre for poetry; and Diantha Sneed for fiction. While there isn’t an open mic this time, we will be talking about our Poetry and Prose Contest that we hope you’re going to enter!

Write-A-Thon 2016

Write-A-Thon is almost here! If you’re a huge fan of Glass Mountain, you might already know what Write-a-thon is, but for any new people out there: Write-A-Thon is the fundraising event we hold every year to help raise money for our annual Boldface Conference for Emerging Writers. This event is a fun way to get writing! We’ll have food, prizes, music and contests all day as we celebrate writing, both poetry and prose. Join us on Saturday, November 5th from 9 AM to 5 PM as we raise money for Boldface 2017!

We have three great readers lined up for you: Clarity Lim, a current student at UH, Rachel Lee, a UH grad, and Luisa Muradyan Tannahill, the Editor of Gulf Coast. There’s no Halloween theme for this reading, but the spook-tacular quality of writing just might scare the pants off of you…come on out to Bohemeo’s Cafe on Tuesday, October 25th at 7 PM and make sure to take part in the open mic after the reading!
