Glass Mountain celebrated the end of October and Halloween with our HallowReading last Tuesday, October 27th. We are pleased to say that it went swimmingly, once again featuring three talented writers who were generous enough to share their time and work with us.

First up, we had Josh Davis share his very personal and moving poetry, wonderfully read.

He was followed by Karina Sokulski, whose excerpt from a short story fit perfectly with the mood of the HallowReading.

The featured readers portion of the evening ended with more poetry from Lena Melinger.

Throughout the evening, we held a Edgar Allen Poe-themed contest, where participants had to listen to excerpts of Poe short stories and name the source. We had several entries who correctly named all four excerpts, but only one could win the prize of candy and a copy of 64 Deaths, by staff member Christina Escamilla. A second contest, to win more candy and another book by Christina, Welcome to the Future, was to correctly answer all the questions of a Halloween literature-themed quiz.

Featured writers and open mic readers, contests, snacks and soda, and magazines all made for a great evening for Glass Mountain Magazine.

Our next reading (and the last of the semester) will be our launch party for Volume 15 of Glass Mountain. We hope you’ll be able to join us on December 8th at Brasil.
